Most of our events at Howbery Park are open to the public, and many are free to attend. For some, there is a charge to cover the cost of materials. We ask participants to sign up in advance, as usually numbers are limited.

Biodiversity walk and talk
During a lunchtime wander, our landscape team from Nurture Group will talk about flora and fauna on the park and our biodiversity initiatives, and also explain how individuals can support wildlife in their own gardens.

Meet the bees workshop
This is a unique opportunity to see and learn about honeybees. With our expert beekeepers you’ll get up close to our hives where you’ll see the different type of bee – queen, drone and workers, and the honey capped in the frames.
Bee suits provided.
Please note, this activity is not suitable for anyone who has required medical attention as a result of a sting, or pregnant women.

Honey harvest viewing
Find out how our beekeepers remove raw honey from the comb and follow the process through to filling a jar. Come along to see how the process works and ask our beekeepers questions.

Art competition
Our ‘Art in the Park’ competition will be opening soon for 2026. There will be prizes available in three different age categories for 2D artwork relating to the theme of ‘Gardens for a changing climate’.
The deadline for entries is 20 August 2026 for the over-18s category.
For the two junior categories, ages 4-11 and 12-18, the deadline is 18 September 2026.

Pumpkin carving workshop
Join our workshop and carve a pumpkin to take home. We have two sessions available: 11am-12pm and 12.30-1.30pm.
This workshop is open to children but all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop.

Park trail
Take a walk in our grounds and discover a trail of wooden cut-outs of animals, birds and insects. The short route starts at the Manor House and takes you round the woodland areas of the park, the forest school zone and near the river.
Free trail maps can be picked up from the Manor Café on working weekdays.
The trail will be on site from April until the end of October.
We ask that children are accompanied.
