Most of our events at Howbery Park are open to the public, and many are free to attend. For some, there is a charge to cover the cost of materials. We ask participants to sign up in advance, as usually numbers are limited.

Art competition
We are inviting entries for the 2026 ‘Art in the Park’ competition. There will be prizes available in three different age categories for 2D artwork relating to the theme of ‘Gardens for a changing climate’.
The deadline for entries is 20 August 2026 for the over-18s category.
For the two junior categories, ages 4-11 and 12-18, the deadline is 18 September 2026.

Art in the Park Exhibition
Exhibition of entries to our ‘Art in the Park’ competition.
Inspired by the theme of ‘Gardens for a changing climate’ this free exhibition showcases artwork submitted by local artists of all ages.
Winners announced at 5pm on Tuesday 6 October.
Exhibition open:
– 6 October at 4-6pm
– 7-9 October at 10am-4pm

Pumpkin carving workshop
Join our workshop and carve a pumpkin to take home. We have two sessions available: 11am-12pm and 12.30-1.30pm.
This workshop is open to children but all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop.
All materials provided.

Park trail
Take a walk in our grounds and discover a trail of wooden cut-outs of animals, birds and insects. The short route starts at the Manor House and takes you round the woodland areas of the park, the forest school zone and near the river.
Free trail maps can be picked up from the Manor Café on working weekdays.
The trail will be on site from April until the end of October.
We ask that children are accompanied.
